Banting Post-doctoral Fellowships.  The objective of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career. The fellowships are administered by Canada's three research granting councils – the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.  
Fellowship amount:  $70,000 per year up to 2 years
Application deadline:  November 3, 2010

Canada-China Norman Bethune Health Research Scholarships Program
The Program offers up to 30 health research doctorate scholarships annually to top students from China to pursue their PhD degree in a health-related research field currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research (STIHR) Programs. The scholarships can be for tenures of four or five years. In China, this program will be coordinated by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and implemented by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), who will ensure that the country's top students which are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity have the opportunity to train in Canada.

Canada Graduate Scholarships Award.  The Canada Graduate Scholarships Master's Awards administered by CIHR are intended to provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a Master's degree in a health related field in Canada. These candidates are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity.
Award amount:  Max. $17,500 up to 1 year
Application deadline:  February 1, 2011

Canadian Bar Association - Viscount Bennett Fellowship The fellowship is available to Canadian citizens who have graduated from an approved law school in Canada, or, who at the time of application are pursing final year studies as undergraduate students at such approved law school
Award amount: $40,000 is offered annually to 1 student for post-graduate studies in law
Application deadline:  November 15

Canada-U.S. Fulbright ProgramThese awards are intended for graduate students, prospective graduate students and junior professionals who wish to enroll in a graduate studies program, continue their current course of graduate study and research, or pursue an independent research project for a period of nine months in the United States.
Award amount:  $15,000 US
Application deadline:  November 15

Chevening Scholarship Administered by the British Council in Canada, this scholarship is available for Canadian students wishing to pursue a masters degree in Britain.

Evan Lewis-Thomas Law Studentships: A $1,000 award or possible living expenses preferably for a student under 26 years of age tenable at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University.
Award amount:  between £1,000 and £3,000

Gates Cambridge Scholarships: tenable at the Cambridge University, UK, these scholarships are open to students pursuing a doctoral or master degree at the University of Cambridge
Award amount:  Full cost of studying at the University of Cambridge
Application deadline:  October 15 for USA citizens and December 1 for other countries

Government of Canada – International Scholarships               

Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral Scholarships  Tenable only in Canada - $35,000 per year for up to 36 months.

Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Masters Scholarship. Tenable only in Canada, program offers one-time, non-renewable, 12-month awards, valued at $17,500 to citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

King's College London School of Law LLM Scholarships.  The School of Law awards two LLM scholarships annually, one to a home/EU student and one to an overseas student. The scholarship is for the full tuition fee.

London Goodenough Graduate Scholarship.  A scholarship for Canadian citizens and landed immigrants who are pursuing postgraduate studies in London, England.

Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation - Student Research Awards

Organization of American States (OAS) Scholarships.  Available to Canadians for study/research in another OAS Member State

Overseas Research Students Awards.  The program offers international postgraduate students the opportunity to carry out a broad range of research at well-established UK academic institutions of worldwide recognitions.  Opportunities are available in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. 

Peterhouse-Cambridge Research Studentships.  Candidates must be 25 years of age and intend to pursue Ph.D. studies at the University of Cambridge.

Rhodes Scholarships.  Scholarships are available for international students tenable at the University of Oxford, England.

SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships.  Tenable in Canada or abroad.  If applicant is abroad, they must have completed at least one previous degree at a Canadian University.  The program offers $20,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months. 

The Right Honorable Paul Martin Scholarships to the University of Cambridge.  Since 1983, the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies has awarded full scholarships in the name of The Right Honourable Paul Martin Sr., to Canadian law students for study in the University of Cambridge Master of Laws (one year) Programme.

Tetley and Lupton Scholarships for Overseas Students.  Up to 9 Tetley and Lupton Scholarships are available for international students wishing to undertake a one-year full-time Master’s Degree in any Faculty at the University of Leeds. 

The Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Awards (CGS-D) This program provides special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field in Canada.
Award amount: The maximum amount for a single award is $35,000 for up to 3 years.
Application deadline: October 15, 2010

University of Edinburgh Postgraduate Scholarships.  58 overseas research scholarships are also available to overseas PhD students undertaking a research degree in any field of study. Each award covers the difference between the UK/EU tuition fee rate and that chargeable to an overseas student. Subject to satisfactory progress, the awards are tenable for up to three years.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program.  The Vanier CGS program aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health sciences. Canadian and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS.  Students wishing to apply for a Vanier CGS must do so through the Canadian university to which they are applying for doctoral studies.
Award amount:  $50,000 per year for 3 years
Application deadline:  October 20

WM Tapp Studentships in Law.  The Council of Gonville and Caius College invite applications for WM Tapp Studentships in Law. These are open to candidates who are not already members of the College but who propose to register as graduate students in the University of Cambridge and follow a course in the Law Faculty.  The value of the Studentship will be determined after considering successful candidates' income from other sources.  A contribution is also made towards expenses of travelling to this country if the student's home is abroad. An allowance may be paid for dependents, and grants are available for research expenses.
